Our Vision for the Future
At Action Child Cancer Africa (ACCA), we are dedicated to transforming the landscape of childhood cancer care in West Africa. Our vision is a future where every child facing cancer has the chance not only to survive but to thrive. Our mission is driven by bold goals that embody our unwavering commitment to these young warriors and their families.
1. Building the Pediatric Oncology West Africa Centre of Excellence
By 2027, ACCA will establish the Pediatric Oncology West Africa Centre of Excellence at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana. This cutting-edge facility will serve as a beacon of hope for the region, providing world-class cancer care, advanced training for medical professionals, and innovative research tailored to the unique needs of children in West Africa.
2. Increasing Childhood Cancer Survival Rates
Within the next five years, we aim to increase survival rates for children with cancer in Ghana and neighboring regions by at least 30%. Through early diagnosis, comprehensive treatment options, and quality post-treatment care, we are determined to give more children a fighting chance.
3. Empowering Healthcare Professionals Across West Africa
ACCA plans to train and certify over 500 healthcare professionals in pediatric oncology by 2029. By equipping medical teams with the specialized skills they need, we will strengthen local healthcare systems and ensure that expertise in childhood cancer care is accessible and sustainable.
4. Driving Policy Change for Sustainable Impact
We are committed to advocating for policies that prioritize pediatric cancer treatment and funding. By collaborating with governments, NGOs, and international organizations, we aim to make sustainable cancer care a core government-supported initiative.
5. Expanding Access to Treatment in Rural Areas
To truly impact survival rates, it is essential to address the disparities between urban and rural regions. By 2030, ACCA, in collaboration with our partners, will establish satellite treatment programs in rural Ghana. These initiatives will extend high-quality care to underserved areas, easing the burden of travel for families and improving access for communities across West Africa.
Each of these milestones represents a step closer to our vision: a West Africa where no child is denied the lifesaving cancer care they deserve.
We invite you to join us in making this vision a reality. Together, we can create a future where every child has the opportunity to beat cancer and lead a fulfilling life.
